Eye exams can often feel like a step towards getting a pair of glasses, but thoughtful care is required beyond creating a prescription. Our exams are always comprehensive, and early detection and prevention is at the forefront of our philosophy. Our facilities are equipped with the latest equipment and imaging that enable us to view and capture images of your eyes from front-to-back. Our comprehensive eye examination includes digital retinal photography using Optos Ultra-Wide Retinal imaging and Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT). These technologies allow for an in-depth assessment of your eye health and assists with early detection of eye diseases. They are also beneficial in providing baselines for future comparisons, as many eye diseases are slowly progressing. These images will be repeated every 1-2 years.

Our optometrists understand that your visual needs differ throughout the day. They will spend time discussing your work environment and hobbies to recommend you with the best lens options.

Imaging: Advanced Optos Retinal Imaging, OCT Scans, VR Visual Field

Common Conditions: Myopia, Hyperopia, Astigmatism, Presbyopia

Our eye health can often provide an early warning for systemic disease but many times are only examined as an afterthought. Our training and experience, combined with our suite of imaging equipment, enables us to identify, diagnose, and treat a wide-range of ophthalmic conditions to offer comprehensive care that extends beyond the routine.

Co-Management: LASIK, Glaucoma, Macular Degeneration, Cataract, Various Retinopathies

Dr. Samantha Chen and Dr. Michelle Loupos work with every patient to evaluate the full range of contact lens options available to identify the most suitable options for your vision needs.

At onepointsenfour we recognise that each eye has a different shape and size.

Based on an eye measurement with our DNEye® Scanner, the biometry of the entire eye is determined for the calculation of the lens (several thousand data points and a
multitude of parameters of each eye). This biometric data is incorporated directly into the lens production process, which is unique in the industry. The result: the most precise lenses in the world, with the sharpest vision for every angle and every gaze.

We call these lenses B.I.G. EXACT®.

B.I.G. stands for Biometric Intelligent Glasses: these lenses marked the beginning of the biometric era at Rodenstock and B.I.G. VISION® FOR ALL has become our philosophy.

Unlike traditional measuring devices, the DNEye® Scanner not only records the standard values for myopia (short-sightedness) and hyperopia (long-sightedness) and corneal curvature, but far more – e.g. the reaction of your pupil during the day and at night as well as the corresponding changes in vision. This way individual aberrations are also detected, which are responsible for reduced contrast sensitivity and poor vision at twilight, for example.

Dry Eyes is a common condition affecting one third of all Australians and 50% of those aged over 50. It is commonly described as watery, gritty, burning and red eyes. Dry eyes can be due to a reduction in tear production or poor term film stability. Other causes may be due to side effects of medications or allergies. With over 118 lubricants available on chemist shelves, an optometrist can direct you to the best eye drops suited for you.

It is estimated that 300,000 Australians have glaucoma and 50% are unaware. Known as the thief of sight, it is a condition where irreversible damage occurs to the optic nerve, resulting in progressive vision loss beginning in the periphery. Early detection allows for early diagnosis and management. Optometrists can assess the signs of glaucoma with a pressure check, retinal imaging, OCT scans and Visual Field tests.

1 in 20 Australians are living with diabetes in Australia. As a diabetic, patients are at risk of developing diabetic retinopathy. Annual eye health checks are essential for all diabetic patients. At Onepointsevenfour we use Optos Ultra Wide-field retinal imaging to carry out comprehensive diabetic eye checks.

1 in 7 Australians over the age of 50 have signs of Macula Degeneration.

AMD is a disease of the macula which is located at the centre of the retina in the back of the eye. It causes progressive central vision loss. Early detection can save sight. Macula checks are involved in every comprehensive eye test.

Cataract is the clouding of the lens in the eye and can cause symptoms such as blurry, hazy or distorted vision, increase in glare sensitivity and possible colour changes.

Cataracts most commonly develop as a normal part of ageing and can be treated with cataract surgery. In Australia, it is one of the most common and successful surgeries.

Firstly, your eyes are measured with the ultramodern Rodenstock DNEye® Scanner.
